Travel to Atlanta

Atlanta has a rich history and a progressive streak that continues to shape its future. With the world's busiest airport and three interstates running through the centre of town, it's easy to get here, no matter where you’re coming from. And yet Southern hospitality remains a way of life—expect to be greeted by smiles and slow Southern drawls.
Don’t leave without tasting…
• The Varsity, the world's largest drive-in restaurant, has been serving up greasy burgers and hot dogs for 83 years. Order an ‘F.O.’ and a ‘naked dog walking’. Only the folks at the world’s largest drive-in will know that you’re asking for a frosted orange drink and a plain hot dog to go (takeaway).
• Award-winning Southern cuisine. Fresh, locally-sourced meals prepared the way our grandmothers cooked is a trend that has been steadily moving across the U.S., but it started with Atlanta’s award-winning chefs.
Top photo opportunities
• After hiking across the world’s largest exposed mass of granite at Stone Mountain Park, you’ll be greeted with panoramic views of the city.
• For the best Atlanta skyline view, head over to Jackson Street Bridge for a sweeping view of the city. The picture-perfect location has also been made popular by The Walking Dead.
Must-see museum
• Atlanta’s High Museum of Art showcases a collection of classic and contemporary art, as well as renowned architecture
• At Fernbank Museum, you come face-to-face with the world’s largest dinosaurs. The NatureQuest exhibit allows young visitors a chance to engage in more than 100 interactive encounters in a nature-inspired environment with live animals and hands-on learning
• At the Martin Luther King National Historic Site, tour his home, church (Ebenezer Baptist Church) and neighbourhood (Sweet Auburn)
• Trace the footsteps of the author of Gone With the Wind at the Margaret Mitchell House.
One-awe inspiring building
Look no further than the Swan House for all the grandeur you would expect of Old Atlanta. The home was built in 1928 by the Inman family and shows the South’s love of classical architecture. As part of the Atlanta History Center, you can tour the Swan House and learn the history of one of the city’s most recognised and photographed homes.
